im right handed and im trying to learn how to write with my left hand too. it seems like this would be good since it exercises both sides of your brain but a girl told me it was bad for your brain. i dont think she knew what she was talking about, but i was just wondering? If i learn to write with my nondominant hand, is it bad?
Your friend is mistaken.
Learning to write with your non-dominant hand is an EXCELLENT exercise for your brain.
Go for it!If i learn to write with my nondominant hand, is it bad?
your friend is mistaken using your non-dominant hand i a good exercise for your brain and for the muscle's in the non-dominant hand. in right with you on learning how to write with the other hand. in fact in school i write with both. it also very handy on a test if you have to write a lot if one hand gets tired you can use the other hand. it'll also help if you did things with your non-dominant hand. you might nee to learn to write all over again but with your other hand. it helped me to use some old handwriting books with the dotted line letters so you learn to make them correctly. most importantly practise, practise, practise, and practise that's the only way to get better and stay good. i hope i helped =) good luck!!!
It won't hurt you and could help you. Recent research has suggested that doing things outside of your routine or your normal way, helps stimulate brain function and memory. The article I read even suggested trying simple tasks with your non dominant hand.
So there you go.
Your friend is mistaken, it will not be bad for your brain to learn to write with your nondominate hand. Like the previous post, it is good exercise for your brain. Plus, an added bonus, should something ever happen to your right hand or arm, you will still be able to function somewhat normally with your left hand until your right is healed.
Edited...if that's the case, left handed people die before right handed people...my left-handed grandfather was 82 when he died, that's long enough for this south paw to live ;) LOL
Want to know an interesting fact?
On average, left handed people die 9 years earlier than right handed people.
