This is new to me, because growing up, nobody in my family made a big deal about it. I'm not committing a sin by being left-handed. My mom always encouraged me to eat with my right hand, because it's sunnah, which I do. The only thing I do with my left-hand is writing and cooking. But I am taking a Quran class, and some people ask me things like, during your Quran class, doesn't your teacher tell you not to write with your left-hand? Or, how are you left-handed, didn't your mom teach you that's wrong?
Why are they saying such dumb things? And it realy upsets me, I'm not a bad Muslim just because I write with my left-hand. My family never said anything like that to me, EVER and I come from a very practicing Muslim family. My brother in law is an Aalim and my brother is also becoming one, I'm sure if I was comitting a huge sin, they would have told me from a long time ago.Muslim people keep making rude comments to me because I'm left-handed.?
In the Name of God, Most Beneficent, Most Merciful
May Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon you
If you are left-handed and you find it hard to write with your right hand, then you can consider yourself excused. For Islam teaches us that we are not accountable for such actions that are beyond our ability or means. Allah says in the Qur’an:
';Allah does not burden any soul with more than it can bear.'; (Al-Baqarah 2:286)
';He has not placed any hardship for you in your religion.'; (Al-Hajj 22:78)
';Allah wants ease for you, not hardship.'; (Al-Baqarah 2:185)
Scholars have inferred from the above verses that the rigor of the law is relaxed in case of extreme hardship.
You are considered excused if you write with your left hand. Just ignore those who make rude comments against you, say ';Alhamdulillah';.
Hope this helps,
Your brother in IslamMuslim people keep making rude comments to me because I'm left-handed.?
get over it.
I am left handed. I felt oppressed about it growing up.
i asked similar questionl tanks god ppl not that ignorant wherei live. i am left handed as well.
You do whatever Allah Made easy for you and should not be concerned with Ignorance! if you left or right handed that is the way Allah created you and that is the way you are and you should fully except that and be thankful to Allah. And those Ignorant people if you choose to Educate them That they may say Suban Allah, suban Al Khaliq!
yeah it's mean for someone to say such a thing....stupid ppl
well, you eat ect...with your right hand so it's all good :D
am so sorry dear..i really dnt know how can ppl actually do this because it's really silly,as if islam was narrowed into whether u use ur right hand or ur left hand.....there are millions of left-handed ppl and i never noticed or commented if one of them uses her left hand in writing, eating, drinking or holding the qur'an.
these rude Muslims don't know that Allah burdens not a person beyond his scope...tell them to go read the qur'an and then come and talk to u...
man sometimes religious people crack me up
the right side of your brain is more dominant meaning your gonna be left handed its genetics nothing you can change about that
I was in big trouble in my childhood, now I feel it was good, as I can do everything by my both hands.
Better follow the Sunnah, and get your range of difference between negative n positive be broader. It will make you wide ranged and broad minded.
Added.
In this way I became an Architect, people say Architecture as a subject, that acts as a bridge in between Art n Science
I'm left handed too
my parents tried to make me right handed but they couldn't(hahahahaha)
I can't do anything by my right hand (eating, writing, and every thing )
if u can eat by ur right hand why not?
but if u can't no problem .
have a nice day friend
I am a revert and am very left handed. I have not been treated badly because of it though. I have made a strong effort to use my right hand for most things but I can not write with my right or cut up my food, etc. I have managed to learn to eat with a fork finally with my right hand and no I am not kidding, I had to start with a big spoon, boy did I ever feel like a little kid.
I'm left handed too, my school tried to make me right handed but failed miserably. How mean of these people to make you feel this way. Ignore them you can't help it if your right side of your brain is more dominant. It's not wrong, it's not a sin, it's just the way your brain is wired. Take no notice of them it won't make any difference to the way you live your life or what career route you take.
Hope this helps and have a good day ;-)
well are they young kids .. usually these comments come from them i guess
it depends on the person .. my sister and uncle are left handed .. actually they say left handed people are smart because they use both sides of the brain!!
don't be bothered by their comments it's weird they never saw a left handed person .. just say it makes you unique and clever
people kept on telling me i'm arogant and i didn't care .. coz those who know me well know i'm not at all .. people just talk .. don't take it personally :)
Ignore them...you were born left handed, so just go with it.*
actually concept is not clear to everyone.
Left hand and Right hand are indication of Good deeds and Bad deeds.
if u see in Soor-e-An Nisa there u can see do not marry with '; Right hand people '; means Your father, brother, uncle, son, brother son and whatever related to real blood.
dont frustrate just find urself the answer for ur defence , dont forget Defence urself is ur right and is already mentioned in quran too.
Salam sis,
Me is left handed too...... but totally left handed! I can't do anything with my right hand without making a proper mess...... if i'd eat right handed the food would be all over my clothes instead of in my mouth lol!
I was quite worried about this too before in converted. Some one told me that the devil was left handed or something like that and that it was not good. Left hand is also to wash yourself when you did you business etc.
My fiancé soothed my worries. He said not to pay attention to people telling me it is something bad. He said very rightfully that there are way more important things people should worry about, that there are way more important things than just that. Besides...... were in the Qur'an does it tell me it is a sin?
I'm not sure if there us any ahadith about being left handed that people could use.
Anyways, i'm too old to learn new tricks, so left handed i am and will die!
Peace,
Tiffy
i have many frens who are left-handed...
theyre all muslims, and noone fusses..
ure probably living in a culture issue not relgion issue...
just like me being a chinese muslim in malaysia....
no there is nothing wrong with being left handed. Quran is written in a very analogous and metaphorical way. People often cant grasp this and always tend to take the literal meaning of the verses. Its ok to eat with your left hand too, i dont see a reason why no to.
Well I know this isn't quite the same, but my best friend was born left handed. Her grandma (who lives with them) spent her entire childhood making her eat, write, etc. with her right hand (and, as a result, she is now right handed).
In Christianity a long time ago, being left handed was supposed to mean that you were cursed by Satan or something like that and every left handed child was forced to learn how to use their right hands. It's not considered to be a sin anymore except by people who are reallllly devout.
I'm left handed.
I remembered once when I was in Mina in one of the Tashriq days. It was during the evening after we finished the stoning for that day. So, I met this Saudi kid. We started to talk and he listened to me because me and my dad were the only Malaysians in the camp. So, he asked me about the country, about his English, about the Qur'an. We talked merrily. So, then he asked me to come to his camp for a while. I followed, seeing no harm in doing so. So, he asked me to give him my email. He said he wanted to contact with me and improve his English. So, he took out a paper and a pen. I held the pen and wrote down my email. He was surprised that I was using my left hand. He said, ';What is this? Not good, not good!'; And I was just silent there, I didn't want to start anything.
I have the same case as you do, although people don't treat me differently as much as they do to you. I do everything with my right hand, even eating. The only thing that I do with my left is write and all other educational-related things. I have friends in my class who are also left-handed.
These people who treat left-handed people are irrational. And worse, if that person is a Muslim, he is not acting as one. Allah S.W.T. has created me and made my left hand dominant. I cannot change that, so no one can and no one will. Muslims who object people using their left hands to write are not good Muslims. I know it is the Sunnah to use your right hand in everything and that eating with your left hand is bad as the Shaytan eats with his left. But they must understand, Allah S.W.T created people with different abilities. It's not like I chose to use my left hand for writing. It just came.
Islam does not banish uniqueness. This is the thing that Muslims must understand. Being unique is not wrong in Islam.
May Allah S.W.T. guide us all.
Asalamu alaikum,
My 2 year old does alot with her left hand. But when I ask her gently of course to eat and do things with her right hand then she does with no problem. Except she always goes back. hahaha
But I could really care less. So what. If she is lefty who cares if she is righty Al Humdulillah. She knows she eats with her right hand atleast cause she uses stinja with her left and that is as far as I will take it. If as she grows she has issues eating with her right hand she can do what ever makes life easy for her, inshAllah.
I will have bigger things to worry about. If people do this to you often remind them that you are Allahs creation. The should shut up quickly.
salam
allah made you that way and it's not your fault
Rabbit those people are rude %26amp; narrow minded. Next person that critcises you use of the left hand, take your right hand %26amp; slap 'em upside the head %26amp; say
';See, I'm learning to use my right hand!';
you know, when you point one finger at another person, 4 are curled back to you. Those people who are passing judgement on you, better worry about their own faults.
that's just cruel..i guess i m ight never know how much you suffer, because i'm myself right-handed, but i hate it when people actually discriminate based on that!!how shallow can people get? my best friend's left-handed, and i used to envy her, lol, because during recess she could eat and complete her homework at the same time, while i couldn't hold my lunch and the pen both in my right hand^ ^...On a serious note though, i've this kinda weird admiration for left-handed people..it fascinates me how they manage with many instruments designed for right-handers with such skill when i can't use it properly with my right hand!that just shows that it isn't which hand but how you use it that matters more.
Don't let them bother ya, sis..It's not like you're doing it by your will-Allah(swt) created you liike that, and be proud of who you are..Besides, it's nothing bad at all (or rather, like i said, awe-inspiring, considering how so many things were made disregarding the ';lefties';' needs and uses %26gt;.%26lt;, yet they manage without much problems)..when people ask you ';Didn't they teach you it was wrong?';, just respond by saying, ';Didn't they teach you not to judge people by their external appearance?';..if that doesn't stop it, just ignore them..
just be what you are!
never try to fulfil every wish of your society cause you never can manage to satisfy them all.
Believe me its real ignorance to think like that you eat with your right hand and thats enough, writing is no big deal. If God made you used to writing with left hand thats not others' business.
Any wasy I love left-handed writing, I have always seen beautiful hand writings with left hand.
actually your classmates are right, you should use your righ-hand even if its hard at first because the left hand is for the impure things like istinjaa etc
see this article:
When a man ate with his left hand in his presence, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “Eat with your right hand.” He said, “I cannot.” He said, “May you never be able to!” Nothing was stopping him but his stubborn arrogance, and he never raised his right hand to his mouth after that. (Reported by Muslim, 3776). According to a report narrated by al-Daarimi, “his right hand never reached his mouth”. This man suffered paralysis because of the du’aa’ of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).
