My friend told me that it is harmful if you are trying to practice writing with your left hand if you are right-handed, and vice versa. She told me that it will affect the brain. How will it affect the brain? What will be the effects? Is it harmful to try practicing writing with your left hand if you're right-handed? Will it affect the brain?
I've never heard anything that would support the notion that writing with the usually unused hand is harmful.
However, I did read in a magazine, maybe Psychology Today, that it is a good thing to brush your teeth with the 'opposite' hand. I can't remember exactly, but I think they were trying to improve coordination or maybe just make a person think about the things usually done reflexively. I don't see why writing would be any different. Is it harmful to try practicing writing with your left hand if you're right-handed? Will it affect the brain?
It will not adversely effect your brain to write with your left hand. In fact, it may actually stimulate a part of your brain that you are not currently using.
Your friend is listening to old wive's tales...
It is absolutely NOT harmful in any way! The left hand is controlled by the right side of the brain...which is the creative side. It will actually be a good exercise for you to stimulate that part of the brain. Anything that you can do to use both hands is VERY good for you! (ie: playing piano).
I agree with the others when they say it will stimulate your brain NOT harm it
I think it will affect your brain......in a GOOD WAY !
What would happen if you lost a hand ot an arm.......you would have to use your other hand/arm.
I would give my right hand to be ambdextrous.....LOL !
Only 1 in 10 people are left handed......but 4 out of 10 people in any Sport , in the Top Ten of that Sport , will be Left handed !
Expand your mind.......go for it !
Then try writing with two hands at the same time ! Haha !
First of all, think about it... how could training your left hand to do anything harm the brain. That means we should only learn to play an instrument with one hand, only type with one hand, only eat with one hand, etc.
Actually, making the opposite hand do something stimulates the brain. You are making the opposite side of the brain work and, the more the brain has to work, the better and stronger it is.
I started writing with my opposite hand in grade school for fun and now I am pretty proficient at my left hand. It still isn't as free as my right, but compared to the average person, it's pretty good.
Another person who learned to write with both hands was Leonardo da Vince. I think that was who inspired me in the first place to try it.
Here's the answer: your friend's a dumb ho!
It only helps to practice with non-dominant, ambidextrosity is a wonderful thing.
its good for your brain,it actually helps prolong oldtimers brain disfunctions!do it definetly i do.
LOL! that's a good one... NO, it will not affect your brain, you can rest easy.... case in point... My brother had Polio when he was little %26amp; his right side was paralyzed, so he had to learn to write with his left hand.He has since recovered %26amp; has use of his right hand %26amp; he is also now'; ambidexterous '; meaning...he can write equally well with BOTH hands!
no it is not harmful.in fact,it will come in handy if you ever have the misfortune of harming one of your hands.i have a friend who is ambedextrious and ahs no trouble but it does differ in looks than his right hand
