if you've been right handed all your life, can you teach yourself to be left handed?
like with writing, for example, can you teach yourself to write, just as neatly as you'd write with your right hand, with your left hand?
is it possible?
if so....how?
feel free to provide any helpful links.....
thanx.
cheers! Is it possible to teach yourself to be left handed, even if you are right handed?
Yes it is, it is not really a psychology question. All it takes is practice practice practice, writing is a matter of building the right muscles to move your hand accordingly. With practice you are slowly building muscle on your left that has not really been exercised before therefore your handwriting will be sloppy, I think it is the forearm muscles you need to build. You can start by doing all the little things you would normally do with your right like, reaching for things, putting on your seatbelt, work your way up. Teach yourself to write all over again, buy those little kinder writing tablets practice with your left hand, coloring books, coloring is a less strenuous motion but will help and don't give up!! Oh and my favorite, converting your mouse to lefty now that will definitely exercise your brain! Is it possible to teach yourself to be left handed, even if you are right handed?
Yes
yes it is possible. all you gotta do is practice A LOT. so... yea. eventually you can get both hands workin together.
It is definitely possible...... I'm right handed but my hubby is left handed..So i started doing everything with my left hand because i was curious about what it would be like... It took a while, but now everything i can do with my right hand, I can also do with my left hand... It's pretty cool.. Although my hand writting differs when i write with my left just a tad..
Start with basics, feed yourself with your left hand instead of your right, practice letters or your name with your left hand, use your left hand to drive,etc..
if you want to learn how to do thing with your non dominant hand then learn at an older age. if you teach a newborn to do things with his/her non dominant hand things could be frustrating because they are wondering why they are struggling so much while an older person would know why they are struggling. as for learning how to do it, it is possible. you just need to get better coordination
You can teach yourself to write well with your left hand, yes. Remember how long it took you to learn to write the first time, though -- you won't learn quickly (though it should be somewhat faster, since you did it once already). Be prepared to practice every day for months, just as you would to learn any other new skill. You won't convert to dominant lefthandedness (or righthandedness if you're a leftie naturally) -- your brain actually is hardwired for ';handedness'; -- but you can teach yourself to be equally adept on the opposing side, at least, if you really want to.
Umm, I don't have a medical degree, but I think that they've done research and it might have a negative effect on your brain to force yourself to switch dominant hands. (I really doubt this is true). I've been trying to be ambudexterous (spelling) for years and so far, no success. Keep at it though, I think the main reason why it didn't work for me was because I only ftried with writing.
Yes you can. I have done it. (though I went from left to right not right to left) Write out the alphabet and numbers many times. Practice 15 minutes a day. Be slow and deliberate. Relax your hand as you go. Make you letters a little larger than normal. Before you know it you will be dexterous with your sinister side.
the left side of the brain controls the right side of the body, and vice versa.
The right side of the brain is responsible for visual and spatial thinking, and the left for reading, writing, logic etc
so to ask the right side of the brain to write is difficult for most people, but with a lot of practice it is possible. You may not be as quick or neat when writing with your left hand, but it should be possible.

Yes it's possible to teach yourself to write with your opposite hand.
I taught myself to write with my left hand as a way to keep myself occupied in some of my classes in school. It does take time and A LOT OF PRACTICE...Don't expect it to happen in a week or month. I still can't write as good with my left hand as my right and i've been practicing for about 4 years, but i'd give myself a 7 on a scale of
1-10.
